Online casino play in Ontario runs inside a regulated market with its own rules. This page explains who runs it, who regulates it and how to tell a regulated site from one outside the market.

How the market works
Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. Two bodies share the work, with separate jobs. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the market. Regulation sits with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the AGCO. Running the market and regulating it are different roles held by different bodies.
The legal age is 19, the same for online play as for casinos. Age is only half of it. Players must be physically located in Ontario to play. Accounts cannot be used to wager from outside the province, so an Ontario account does not travel with its holder.
Checking a site
iGaming Ontario publishes the list of regulated online gambling sites at igamingontario.ca. That list is the test. A site that does not appear on it is not part of Ontario's regulated market, whatever its own pages say.
OLG.ca is the online site of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the provincial agency. A name is checked against the list on igamingontario.ca, not against anything a site says about itself.
Ways to stop
BetGuard, at betguard.ca, has been run by iGaming Ontario since May 14, 2026. It lets a person exclude themselves from all regulated Ontario gambling sites, OLG.ca included, for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom term. It does not cover land-based casinos.
For land-based play, OLG's My PlayBreak lets a person self-exclude from Ontario casinos for 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years. Requests go through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, on-site staff or a PlaySmart Centre. Once set, the term cannot be cancelled early.
